Fiona Kearney

Fiona Kearney and "Fitch"

Veterinary Practitioner

Fiona is the newest member of the TVC team after graduating in December 2010 as part of the foundation class of Veterinary Science at James Cook University. She is based in the small animal clinic most days but spends Wednesdays in the equine hospital.

Growing up in Bundaberg, Fiona was hooked on becoming a vet from a young age after pestering the local vet to take her out on his horse calls. She was often enlisted to pass instruments, hold up limbs, or run backwards and forwards to the car to grab supplies. Fiona is also a keen horse-rider, having competed in dressage and eventing in SE Qld for many years. Her horses now reside with her parents at their property in northern Tasmania.

Fiona began a bachelor of science at the University of Queensland before making the move to sunny North QLD to begin her Veterinary degree. She is passionate about all areas of small and large animal practice however has a special interest in small animal orthopaedic surgery, as well as equine lameness examinations, dentistry and equine anaesthesia. She hopes to draw on the combined knowledge of the other vets in the practice in order to provide the best possible veterinary care for your pets.
